Travel Toys

The project that I'm most proud of working on at JJ Cole are these travel toys which I created in a span of 10 months, from concept to production. They started as sketches and slowly grew into tangible plushies after I experimented with textiles and textures. I also taught myself how to sew while doing this process.

The challenge was figuring out what fun features stimulated babies the most and captured their attention, from crinkle paper to plastic beads to rubber teethers. The final touch and most unique selling point was a vibrating pull string which I added to the head or tail of each animal. When pulled, it made the toy wiggle its way to the top of the plastic ring.

Whether sitting in a car seat or stroller, baby can pull on their friend and be entertained on-the-go.

The best toys engage a child's senses, spark their imagination and encourage social interaction with others.

I wanted to design stuffed animals that were not only engaging but also modern and attractive. So many toys out there are so over-the-top and frankly overwhelming to look at.

I mocked up hang tags for all four animals and gave them each names (Griswold the bear, Mikko the Monkey, Napoleon the Lion, and Lamar the Lamb)
