Asian Pacific Heritage Month

What does it mean to be Asian Pacific American? What is is like to be accepted and celebrated for our intricate backgrounds which often feel like two splits in one lived experience?

I had the honor of creating the identity for Expedia Group’s Asian Pacific Heritage Month 2022 global observance. I centered the look and feel around the idea of intersectionality. Our Asian Pacific backgrounds specifically in America are so layered - being Korean American is vastly different than lets say someone who was born and raised in Korea. I wanted to capture that through literal layers of color and gold that resemble ancient scroll paintings. It can look like distant mountain ranges but also torn up paper, and I loved bringing in that tangible aspect to these assets which are usually so digital and confined to Basecamp or Zoom.

One of my main goals was to ensure that our photography was inclusive of all people and cultures across Asia and the Pacific Islands.
